I selected this hotel based in its location and in that respect it absolutely delivered. It’s a 10 minute walk to Shinjuku station (tip: the Central East Exit is the best one), Golden Gai is literally around the corner and the surrounding area is jam-packed with shopping, food and entertainment options. In short, you don’t go to Tokyo to stay in your hotel room (!) and the accommodation at Citadines is very basic. My room was pretty small but that’s been the standard in most of the mid range hotels I’ve booked in Japan. That said, it was clean and had all the basics. No hanging / storage space (which again seems fairly standard) and the pillows were like rocks. I asked at reception if they had a softer pillow and they were kind enough to arrange one for me which improved my sleep significantly! I’ve lived on a main road for 12 years so traffic / nightlife sounds don’t bother me but there was a lot of music, sirens and drunken shenanigans until the wee hours, so take earplugs if you are sensitive to noise! As many people have mentioned, having a Lawon’s downstairs is handy but there are literally convenience stories on every corner so don’t let that be a deciding factor. I do want to say a huge thank you to the front desk team who helped me when my phone network died and were googling support lines for my provider back home in Australia. Definitely above and beyond!

The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful . The rooms are individually fit. Mine was 24 m² and it was very good. The location is perfect, however be aware that the hotel starts at 3rd floor. You do have an elevator all the way. The breakfast is good and offers enough options.

Great location in central Shinjuku, close to the train station, shops, bars ad restaurants. The rooms are a good size and clean. Can be a bit noisy with sirens at couple of times during the night but not that annoying. Water coolers and ice machines on each floor and a laundry on the seventh floor. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lawsons on the ground floor great for picking up a snack or drink.

This place was fantastic, so clean and comfortable. The street around the corner was filled with every kind of restaurant or cafe you could imagine. We had breakfast every morning at Pronto, which was eggs and toast. The hotel itself was comfortable, the beds were fabulous, like sleeping on a cloud. The subway was a bit of a walk, but we got use to it. The kitchen was great and very convenient as there was 7-11 right across the road which was really well stocked. The staff were lovely and I have to say we will stay here again and we are very fussy. Highly recommended.

Perfect little hotel in the center of Shinjuku, convenient to most of the west side of Tokyo. The rooms were bigger than we expected - we could open a large and small suitcase on the floor to unpack/pack (though it would be uncomfortable to leave them open all the time). Bathroom is small but serviceable. Overall the room is well laid out. My 15 year old loved having a Lawson downstairs for snacks any time. The hotel gladly forwarded luggage for us to my next hotel.
